Meet Our Founder

George A. Fields, Jr. has over 30 years experience when it comes to working with families who experience homelessness in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was the Fort Wayne Community Schools Homeless Liaison for 23 years and has provided many resources to the youth experiencing homelessness. His passion for helping individuals experiencing homelessness is what lead to him starting the Fields of Dreams Foundation. He wants to see to it that no youth in the city of Fort Wayne has to struggle with not having a reliable place to sleep or wonder where their next meal will come from.

This will result in keeping students off the streets, out of gangs, and help them become productive citizens. George will not give up on the youth and wants them to reach their full potential.

Raising Funds 1 Step At A Time

Here are the latest events and updates on funding for our program.

Awareness

A good education lays the foundation for stability and prosperity in adulthood. It provides young people with the intellectual and emotional tools they need to grow and succeed. Yet for youth experiencing homelessness and those in out-of- home care, a good education is all too elusive.

These youth suffer from extreme instability in their home lives. Children and youth experiencing homelessness move constantly in their struggle to meet their most basic needs, such as shelter, food, health care, physical safety, economic stability, healthy surroundings, clothing, and transportation. Many encounter these obstacles alone, as abuse and neglect in their families have forced them out of their homes.

perspective poem

Homelessness Isn't Nice

Homeless isn't nice

People don't treat you the same

It makes you feel like an alien

It makes you feel ashamed.

Homeless isn't nice

No food, no home, no bread

People would give anything

For a night in a comfy bed.

Homeless isn't nice

People huddle close together

Wondering where their next meal comes

from

Will they live like this forever?

Homeless isn't nice

In a doorway cuddled up tight

Paper and cardboard all around them just

to keep warm at night

Homeless isn't nice

No warm grub to fill your tum 13 and 14

year olds on the streets, why don't they go

home to mum?

Homeless isn't nice

Believe 'cos it's true

and I know what I'm talking about

'Cos I am homeless, too.
